COVID Daily Death Toll in Iran Stands at 148


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran has surpassed 133,700 after 148 more patients succumbed to the disease, the Health Ministry said.

Figures released by the ministry on Sunday show that the coronavirus has taken the lives of 148 patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to 133,718.

According to the statistics, 25,812 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 2,543 of them hospitalized.

More than 6.29 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,806,265 who have contracted the disease, the ministry added.

Some 3,370 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The ministry also said that over 61.56 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 54.81 million have received the second dosage, and more than 21.27 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 411 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.83 million.
