Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers: Iran Beats Syria
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national basketball team beat Syria 80-68 in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers in Tehran’s Azadi Hall on Sunday.
Iran had lost to Kazakhstan 73-69 on home soil three days earlier.
Iran’s Mohammad Jamshidi topscored with 41 points, while Syria’s Amir Jabbar Hinton scored 18 points.
With the win, Iran moved up to top of Group D with seven points, one point ahead of Kazakhstan who has one game in hand.
The team of Mostafa Hashemi, Iran’s coach, will play Kazakhstan and Syria in its away matches in July.
The top three teams from all groups will be grouped in two groups of six teams, where each team will face others from another group.
