Coronavirus in Iran: Over 3,000 Patients in ICUs


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 3,000 of the patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran are in the intensive care units of hospitals.

The Iranian Health Ministry said on Friday that 3,069 COVID-19 patients in the country are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 138,711, as 139 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, it said.

Over the last 24 hours, 3,953 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 751 of them hospitalized, it added.

The Health Ministry also said more than 6,768,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,117,500 sick people.

The ministry added that over 63.46 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 56.07 million have received the second dosage, and more than 24.79 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 453 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.05 million.
