TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A big rally was held in the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian non-governmental organizations network on Monday in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners.

The network represents around 140 Palestinian civil society organizations.

Palestinian prisoners are facing inhumane and degrading conditions inside Israeli jails. They also suffer from prolonged solitary confinement and administrative detention.

Currently around five thousand Palestinians, including children and women, are languishing inside Israeli jails.

Israel’s Prison Service continues to violate international laws and norms regarding the treatment of prisoners.

Experts say that Tel-Aviv’s detention practices are inflicting great suffering on thousands of Palestinian prisoners.

Prisoners’ advocates have blamed the international community for applying double standards when it comes to the rights of Palestinians.

People here consider Palestinians held in Israeli jails as political prisoners and freedom fighters who continue to suffer under the nose of the international community.
