Daily Coronavirus Deaths in Iran Down to 2-Digit Number Again


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from COVID-19 in Iran stood at below 100 on Thursday for the first time after 38 days.

The Iranian Health Ministry said on Thursday that the disease has taken the lives of 98 patients in the country over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 139,387.

Over the past 24 hours, 2,580 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 512 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

It put the total number of coronavirus cases in the country so far at 7,135,719, saying over 6,805,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

The ministry also said that over 63.7 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 56.4 million have received the second dosage, and more than 25.5 million have gotten the booster shots.

Worldwide, the number of people infected with COVID-19 has exceeded 464 million and the disease has taken the lives of over 6.08 million.
