Iran Reports 38 Additional COVID-19-Related Deaths


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Ministry of Health on Friday reported that the country’s total cumulative number of COVID-19-related deaths since the start of the pandemic has increased to 140,528 with 36 more Iranians killed by the deadly disease.

Health officials reported that there are 3,184 active cases among whom 468 were hospitalized.

More than 6,909,967 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,186,992 ones who have contracted the disease, the report said.

Some 1,594 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it added.

The ministry also said that over 64.04 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 57.10 million have received the second dosage, and more than 26.47 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 496 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.19 million.
