Israel A Threat to Entire Region, Iran Warns UAE

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Denouncing the Zionist regime as the root cause of insecurity in the region, the Iranian foreign minister reminded his Emirati counterpart that the presence of Israel threatens all regional countries.

In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan talked about a range of bilateral, regional and international issues, including the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, the situation in Syria, and the Vienna talks on the revival of the JCPOA.

Highlighting Iran’s good intentions and push for security and development of its neighbors and regional states, including the UAE, Amirabdollahian said, “The Zionists have been and are the root cause of insecurity in the region.”

Denouncing the presence of the Israeli regime in the region as a threat to all regional countries, the Iranian foreign minister said, “Efforts should be made to prevent the crisis-creating elements from gaining a foothold in the region.”

The top Iranian diplomat then welcomed the temporary ceasefire in Yemen, expressing hope for a complete end to the siege of the Arab country and for the start of political negotiations among the Yemeni parties.

Hailing the growing relations between Tehran and Abu Dhabi, Amirabdollahian stressed the importance of promoting cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries, adding, “There is no limit on the expansion of relations.”

For his part, Al Nahyan hoped for the enhancement of the deep-rooted ties between the UAE and Iran.

He also said the situation in the region has been improving in recent weeks, as the president of Syria has visited the UAE and a temporary ceasefire has been announced in Yemen.

The senior Emirati diplomat said the truce in Yemen has provided an opportunity for development, progress and de-escalation of tensions.

He also pledged that Abu Dhabi will not allow any party to use the Emirati soil for acts of sabotage or provocative moves against the neighboring states.
