Foolad Determined to Run Unbeaten Streak: Nekounam
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foolad football team has already qualified for the 2022 AFC Champions League next stage but the team’s coach Javad Nekounam says they are determined to enter the next stage with their unbeaten streak intact.
Foolad and Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai, who have yet to taste defeat in the group stage, are set for a thrilling top of the table Group C clash at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium.
Foolad advanced to the next stage with a game to spare where it currently leads Group C on 11 points courtesy of three victories and two draws.
“We are happy with our matches so far. We’ve qualified for next stage with one more game to play. But we want to finish as the first team and we are playing against a quality side with very good players that can change the results in an instant,” Nekounam said.
“Foolad is one of the representatives from Iran and we have a responsibility to do well in the AFC Champions League. We hope more clubs will play in this competition but for us, we want to play our best and go as far as we can in this tournament,” he added.
