Russia-US Strategic Stability Dialogue Formally ‘Frozen,’ Says Senior Diplomat

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – No prospects of the Russia-US dialogue on strategic stability can be seen at present and the dialogue is formally ‘frozen’ by Washington, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Vladimir Yermakov said.

"As of now, the situation indicates that there can be no talk at present about any prospects of talks with the United States on strategic stability. Unfortunately, all of Washington’s actions are taken in the diametrically opposite direction," the high-ranking Russian diplomat told TASS on Saturday.

"In any dialogue, especially in a strategic dialogue, at least the presence of an adequate partner is required. As of now, this dialogue is formally frozen by the American side," he stressed.

The Russia-US dialogue on strategic stability can restart after Russia fulfills the tasks of its "special operation" in Ukraine, Yermakov added.

"Apparently, it will be possible to return to the substantive talk on the prospects of resuming a full-scale Russia-US negotiating process on strategic issues only after all the tasks set as part of the special military operation in Ukraine are implemented," the high-ranking Russian diplomat said.
