Iran to Play Australia in Asian Girls' U-18 Volleyball Championship Opener


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran will open the 2022 Asian Girls' U-18 Volleyball Championship with a match against Australia in Pool A.

The Persian girls will meet the Volleyroos on June 6.

Iran will also play Thailand, South Korea and Uzbekistan in the following days.

Japan, China, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, India and the Philippines are in Pool B.

Teams will compete in pool round-robin preliminaries, with top two teams in each pool advancing to the cross semifinals. The teams finishing 3rd and 4th in each pool will then strut their stuff in the classification round for 5th–8th places, while those finishing 5th and 6th in each pool will fight for the 9th, 10th and 11th places.

The tournament will be held in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, from June 6-13.

The top four teams qualify for the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Girls' U-19 World Championship as the AVC representatives.
