Iran’s Top Diplomat in India for Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to hold high-profile talks with the Indian officials.

The Iranian foreign minister is visiting India at the official invitation of his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

Apart from negotiations with senior Indian authorities in New Delhi, the top Iranian diplomat is planned to visit Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Amirabdollahian is also going to hold meetings with the religious clerics, local authorities, and Iranian business people and nationals residing in India.

This is Amirabdollahian's first visit to India since taking charge last year. He was expected to visit the South Asian country earlier this year, but that got postponed as Jaishankar was confirmed with COVID-19.

Last month both foreign ministers had a telephone conversation in which the Indian top diplomat invited the Iranian counterpart to visit New Delhi. During the conversation, they discussed the situation in Afghanistan, Yemen, and Ukraine.
