Iran Urges Closer Trade Ties with Turkey


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran stressed the need to strengthen trade cooperation with neighboring Turkey.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu held a telephone conversation on Tuesday, talking about the latest developments in the bilateral relations.

In the phone call, the Iranian foreign minister stressed the need to keep up consultations between the two countries and promote mutual cooperation, especially on trade and consular issues.

For his part, Cavusoglu offered his condolences on the deaths of a number of Iranian people in a building collapse in Abadan and a passenger train accident, wishing full recovery for those wounded in the incidents.

The top Turkish diplomat also invited Amirabdollahian to visit Ankara for talks on the issues of mutual interest in the near future.
