Iran Loses to Thailand at Asian Women’s U-20 Volleyball C’ship


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Thailand opened its bid in the 21st Asian Women’s U-20 Volleyball Championship with 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-15) against Iran in Pool A on Monday.

Captain Donphon Sinpho sparked the Thai offence, as she unleashed impressively from the left side, playing consistently throughout the match.

Mahdieh Rahimizare and Roya Farrokhi each contributed 10 points to lead Iran’s scoring charge.

Iran will play Kazakhstan on Tuesday.

Pool B consists of Japan, China, India, Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei.

The competition is being held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan from July 4 to 11.

The top two teams will qualify for the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U-21 World Championship, with the host city to be announced at a later date.
