Iran Facing Complicated Hybrid Warfare: Top General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri warned against a tough and complicated hybrid warfare that the enemies have waged against the Islamic Republic, stressing the need for the constant enhancement of the country’s deterrent power.

In comments at a meeting with the Army commanders in Tehran on Thursday, the senior general described effective defense power as Iran’s fundamental and crucial need to counter the superpowers seeking to harm the Islamic Revolution.

“We are facing harsh and very complicated hybrid warfare. We must gear up for such type of war,” Major General Baqeri warned.

He also noted that the Iranian military units are among the few military forces in the world that encounter hard military threats and security threats at the same time.

Emphasizing the necessity for constant improvement of Iran’s deterrent power, the general said the Army forces guarding the common border with Afghanistan, the IRGC Ground forces protecting the southeastern and northwestern boundaries, and the Police forces are facing armed and non-armed security threats at various arenas.

“Our armed forces must be prepared to counter such threats as well,” the top commander underlined, cautioning against the heavy investment the enemy has made in the plots to harm Iran.

Back in April, Major General Baqeri said all Iranian military forces are ready to give a decisive and crushing response to any threat at any level in such a way that the enemies of Iran would regret taking hostile action against the Islamic establishment.

In comments in December 2021, President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi cautioned the enemies that any bellicose move will draw such a decisive response from the Iranian military forces that it will bring about a significant change in strategic equations.
