Iranian Para Swimmers Collect Medal at ISG 2021


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Para swimmers Sina Zeighaminejad and Shahin Izadyar claimed three gold medals in the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games.

Zeighaminejad seized a gold in the 400m freestyle (S6-S10). Izadyar won the silver in the event and the bronze medal went to Turkey’s Ugur Senel.

Izadyar also snatched a gold in the 100m backstroke (S6-S10). Azizbek Boynazarov of Uzbekistan won the silver and Iran’s Abolfazl Zarif bagged a bronze in the event.

In the 100 m breaststroke (SB4-SB9), Zeighaminejad took a gold, followed by Izadyar and Boynazarov.

Izadyar and Zeighaminejad also won a silver and a bronze medal in the 200 m individual medley (SM5-SM10).

The 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games are being held in Konya, Turkey, from August 09 to 18, 2022. It is a multinational, multi-sport event that is played between the athletes from the nations of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

With an exception of the 2010 Games, it has taken place every four years since its debut in 2005 at Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The Islamic Solidarity Games are organized and directed by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, but for the first time in history, the event is organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee.
