Spokesman Rejects Arab League Claims regarding Three Iranian Islands

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the contents of the statement of the 158th meeting of the Arab League foreign ministers and the self-proclaimed Quartet Committee regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said issuing such statements shows a lack of a proper understanding on part of some of the mentioned countries regarding the course of developments in the region and ignoring the realities of the West Asian region.

He advised those countries to focus on the crimes of the Zionist regime against the oppressed people of Palestine instead of repeating the repetitive and worthless accusations.

Kanaani also said issuing these types of statements at the same time as some of these countries are moving to improve their relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran is of contradictory nature, and once again stressed Iran’s constant position of inviting its neighbors to talk and resolve misunderstandings through diplomatic channels.

Rejecting the claims in the statement regarding the three Iranian islands, Kanaani said all of Iran’s actions are within the framework of exercising sovereignty over the country’s territorial integrity and condemned the interference of other parties in this regard.

The spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also pointed to the capability and dominance of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s armed forces in guarding the security of navigation in the Persian Gulf region and being alert to any kind of maritime mischief and insecurity.

He emphasized that the security of the region must be preserved by the regional countries without foreign interference.
