FM: Iran Implementing Road Map to Cooperation with Venezuela

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is vigorously carrying out a road map to long-term cooperation with Venezuela, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said.

In a meeting with Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Julio Ron Martinez, held in Tehran on Saturday, Amirabdollahian said Tehran is carrying out the contents of the road map to long-term cooperation with Venezuela with the maximum power.

Hailing the close political relations between Tehran and Caracas, he described a visit by Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro to Iran in June as a milestone in the bilateral ties.

Amirabdollahian also noted that the reciprocal visits by Iranian and Venezuelan delegations in the past year illustrate the unity between the two nations.

For his part, Carlos Julio Ron Martinez stressed the need for united action against unilateralism in the world, reaffirming Venezuela’s commitment to the bilateral treaties and agreements.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the first meeting of the National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter.

In October 2021, Amirabdollahian said Iran and Venezuela have agreed to draw up a road map to 20-year cooperation.
