Iran Raps Germany’s Undiplomatic Stance, Warns of Firm Response
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran hit back at his German counterpart for her “provocative and undiplomatic” remarks about the Islamic Republic, warning Berlin that Iran would show a “proportionate and firm” reaction.
In a post on his Twitter account on Thursday, Hossein Amirabdollahian deplored the anti-Iran stances adopted by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
He reminded Baerbock in the tweet that “provocative, interventionist and undiplomatic stances don't signal sophistication and wisdom”
“Undermining old ties has long-term consequences,” Amirabdollahian warned.
“Germany can choose engagement to address shared challenges-or confrontation. Our response will be proportionate & firm,” the top Iranian diplomat added.
His comments came after Baerbock called on the European Union to slap new sanctions on Iran for what she described as Tehran’s repression against protesters in several Iranian cities.
