Mine Explosion in Iran Leaves Two Dead, Five Others Injured


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - At least two people were killed and five others injured in an explosion at a mine in Iran's Semnan Province on Sunday.

The accident occurred in the Florine mine in Tuye village near Damghan city, according to Mohammad Ali Taheri, director of the Center for Management of Medical Accidents and Emergencies under Semnan University of Medical Sciences.

Taheri said an investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the incident without offering any additional details.

Kamal Taherian, Director General of Crisis Management of Semnan Province told the Tasnim News Agency that the incident occurred in the resting room of the employees of Damghan Florin mine while they were taking a break, and had nothing to do with the mining operations.

Disregarding the rules of safety by the employees was announced as the main reason for the explosion.
