General Soleimani Hero of Fight against Terrorism: Iranian Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Lauding late Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani as the hero of the fight against terrorism and the terminator of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS), Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman called for the trial of former US president Donald Trump for ordering the assassination attack.

In a post on his Twitter account on Monday, Nasser Kanaani paid tribute to General Soleimani on the third anniversary of his martyrdom.

The United States assassinated General Soleimani, the former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)'s Quds Force, along with Abu Mahdi Al Muhandis, deputy commander of Iraq’s anti-terror Popular Mobilization Units, and their companions, in a drone strike near the Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.

“A government (US) from the other side of the globe decided to change the geography of our region at the cost of shedding the blood of thousands of women and children. Iran put an end to such project. The hero of this battle against terrorism and the terminator of Daesh was no one other than Hajj Qassem Soleimani. Fair trial for the crime committed by the former US president would serve humanity,” the spokesman said.

“Three years have passed since the wretched move of the Godfather of international terror to assassinate the commander of the fight against terror. The glorious funeral for his torn apart body and the global commemoration of his name and memory are proof that Haj Qassem is alive,” Kanaani stated.

“The pulse of the resistance has been beating better ever since January 3, 2020, and the resistance is bent on punishing those who murdered this anti-terror champion,” he added.
