Iran’s Top Banker in Qatar to Step Up Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The new governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has traveled to Qatar in the pursuit of closer banking interaction with the Persian Gulf states.

Heading an expert delegation, Mohammad Reza Farzin has traveled to Doha with the purpose of broadening monetary and banking relations with the Persian Gulf littoral countries.

The top banker is accompanied by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mahdi Safari in the trip.

Farzin took the helm at the Central Bank of Iran last week after the cabinet of ministers accepted the resignation of his predecessor.

After taking office in August 2021, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said his administration’s foreign policy is focused on strengthening ties with neighbors and allies and developing economic diplomacy.
