Plots to Create Chaos in Iran Foiled: IRGC Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hailing Iranian women and girls for thwarting the enemy’s conspiracies, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said the hostile plots to inflict chaos in Iran got nowhere.

“During the past several months, the enemies wanted to shut down (Iranian) schools and universities and centers of economic activities of people and wreak chaos on the country through a sedition and world war, but the youth, women and girls of Iran did not go along with (their schemes) and defeated their plots,” Major General Hossein Salami said at a cultural ceremony in Tehran on Monday.

The IRGC commander also described poverty, hunger and displacement of people as the only outcomes of the presence of arrogance in the region, including in Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and Palestine.

Denouncing the crimes committed by the US in the regional countries, Major General Salami said those that encouraged the young Iranian people to take part in the riots wanted to turn Iran into rubble and hinder the country’s progress, just like what they did to Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan.

In remarks in November 2022, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei pointed to the obvious role of the enemies in the riots that have been taking place in the country during the past few weeks, saying, “The events that took place these past few weeks were not merely street riots. They were detailed plots. The enemy initiated hybrid warfare. The enemy, namely the United States, the Zionist regime, some insidious and malicious European powers, and some groups, came to the scene with all of their capabilities.”
