Russian Duma Chief Visits Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin has visited Iran with a delegation of state officials.

The Russian Duma chairman paid a visit to the Iranian Parliament on Monday morning for talks with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.

Volodin is accompanied by a number of Russian deputy ministers responsible for energy, trade, transportation and agricultural affairs who are planned to take part in the third meeting of the Supreme Joint Parliamentary Commission of Iran and Russia.

In a meeting with his Russian counterpart on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Uzbekistan in September 2022, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi expressed Tehran’s opposition to the sanctions against Russia, assuring Vladimir Putin that Iran will never join the campaign of anti-Russian sanctions.

Putin also said at the meeting that the Western states are not the masters of their word because they give as they want or take when they want.
