Iran Ready for New Round of Political Talks with Ireland


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian expressed Tehran’s readiness to hold a fresh round of political consultations with Ireland.

In a telephone conversation on Monday, Amirabdollahian and his new Irish counterpart Micheál Martin discussed the most important issues of mutual interest.

The top Iranian diplomat congratulated Martin on his appointment as Ireland's new foreign minister and expressed hope the ties between the two countries would expand during his tenure.

Amirabdollahian also noted that Iran is ready for a new round of political consultations with Ireland. He then invited Martin to visit Iran.

For his part, the top Irish diplomat thanked Amirabdollahian for congratulating him on his appointment to the post. He described Iran as a country with an ancient history and civilization, saying, "I have always held Iran in high regard for its shining history and culture."

Martin also discussed the latest state and most pressing consular issues between the two sides.
