Iran Air Force Delivers 2nd Shipment of Earthquake Aid to Syrians, Turks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Air Force on Wednesday dispatched the second consignment of relief aid to the areas affected by a devastating earthquake that has killed thousands of people in southeast Turkey and northern Syria.
An Air Force commander said the shipment donated by Iran contains 17 tons of medical supplies, rescue and relief equipment, tents, moquette, and foodstuffs.
The second consignment of goods has been dispatched to Syria from Lashkari air base in Tehran’s Mehrabad on board a Boeing 707 plane.
The Iranian Air Force had sent the first shipment of supplies to Turkey with a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.
The death toll from the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on Monday has risen to more than 11,000.
At least 8,574 people have died in Turkey, the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday. At least 2,530 have been killed in Syria.
