Esteghlal Victorious, Persepolis Suffers Defeat: IPL
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal football team defeated Paykan 2-0, while Persepolis suffered a 1-0 defeat against Havadar in the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Monday.
Esteghlal players Mehdi Ghaedi and Saleh Hardani had one each in Tehran’s Dastgerdi Stadium.
Persepolis suffered a home 1-0 loss against Havadar in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium. Mohammad Javad Mohammadi scored the solitary goal of the match in the 87th minute.
In Rafsanjan, Mes defeated Foolad 2-0, Malavan lost to Gol Gohar 2-1 in Bandar Anzali and Tractor and Aluminum shared the spoils in a goalless draw in Tabriz.
On Tuesday, Sepahan will host Zob Ahan in the Isfahan derby, Mes Kerman play Nassaji and struggling teams Naft Masjed Soleyman and Sanat Naft will meet each other.
Sepahan leads the table with 39 points, while it has one game in hand.
Persepolis and Esteghlal sit second and third respectively with 39 points.
