Iraqi Forces Kill Three Daesh Militants in North

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iraqi military announced on Tuesday that its forces had killed three Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) militants in the country's north.

The Joint Operations Command (JOC) announced that three Daesh militants were killed in Wadi al-Shay, a rugged area southwest of Kirkuk in northern Iraq.

The JOC media office stated that the operation was carried out based on intelligence reports and that the militants had been tracked for over three days before the attack.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi intelligence service confirmed in a statement that it had arrested some Daesh ring-leaders in a non-neighboring country and brought them to Iraq to face justice.

The statement did not provide further details on the number or the location of the arrests.

The arrested militants are believed to be involved in criminal activities both inside and outside Iraq.

Since Daesh was defeated in 2017, the security situation in Iraq has improved, but the group has continued to carry out guerilla attacks against security forces and civilians in urban centers, deserts, and rugged areas.
