Iran Prepared to Broaden Ties with Spain

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran expressed the country’s readiness to promote cooperation with Spain in various fields.

In a telephone conversation with his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares on Thursday, Hossein Amirabdollahian hailed the good and historical relations between Tehran and Madrid.

He also voiced Iran’s readiness to expand relations with Spain in diverse fields.

Denouncing the terrorist currents for abusing the recent riots in Iran, Amirabdollahian said a number of European governments have sadly miscalculated under the influence of false reports from the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), which was on the US’ list of foreign terrorist organizations for years.

For his part, Albares highlighted the close relations between Spain and Iran, stressing the need to maintain mutual cooperation.

The two senior diplomats also talked about the latest developments in Ukraine, the course of cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, the negotiations on the removal of sanctions on Iran, and the issues relating to consular affairs between the two nations.
