Iran Establishes Innovation Houses to Boost Knowledge-Based Enterprise Exports

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Foreign Ministry has launched a dedicated chapter for knowledge-based enterprises (KBEs) in its public diplomacy efforts, according to Mehdi Safari, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy.

Safari said the ministry, with support from the Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy, is establishing innovation houses to foster export markets for domestic innovation products.

They will act as centers for dispatching Iranian products to neighboring states, he added.

Iranian economic envoys in foreign countries are tasked with cooperating with KBEs and supporting them in target countries.

“Our endeavor is to cooperate with the knowledge-based enterprises and support them beyond the borders," Safari told IRNA.

Innovation houses for KBE exports have already been launched in China, Syria, Russia, Turkey, and Kenya.

Safari also mentioned a recent meeting with the Developing Eight (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation held in Pardis Technology Park in northeast Tehran, which will facilitate the exchange of technology.

The D-8 members include Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, and Nigeria.
