Iranian Envoy Discusses Reopening Embassy in Tripoli with Libyan FM
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's accredited ambassador to Libya, Mohammad-Reza Raouf-Sheibani, met with Libya's Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush in Tripoli on Sunday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations, including the reopening of the Iranian embassy in Tripoli.
The two officials also discussed the establishment of the Iran-Libya Joint Economic Committee to further enhance economic cooperation, IRNA reported, citing Al Jazeera.
In addition, they addressed regional and international developments, including the recent reestablishment of relations between Tehran and Riyadh.
Al-Mangoush welcomed the resumption of diplomatic ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia, highlighting its positive implications for the wider region.
Raouf-Sheibani was appointed as Iran's ambassador to Libya in January 2022, but the embassy was not reopened due to the situation in Libya at that time.
