Kavianinejad Takes Silver at Asian Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Greco-Roman Amin Kavianinejad won a silver medal at the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships on Sunday.

He had to face Akzhol Makhmudov from Kyrgyzstan in the final bout of 77kg but withdrew from the match due to an injury.

The Championships started on April 9 in Astana, Kazakhstan and will run until April 14.

The six-day event will determine the seeds for the World Championships to be held in mid-September in Serbia. The World Championships, consequently, will serve as the qualifying event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
