Iran, Russia Stress Developing Air Transport Cooperation


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation emphasized the need for developing air transport cooperation.

Head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) Mohammad Mohammadibakhsh during a daylong trip to the Russian capital of Moscow met and held talks with Deputy Transport Minister of Russia Igor Chalik on Tuesday.

The two sides discussed bilateral ties and stressed the need for the development of cooperation in the field of aviation including an increase in flights and the establishment of new air routes.

He also called for taking advantage of the capacities of the two countries for the increase in the number of passengers.

The Russian deputy transport minister called the cooperation between the two countries in the aviation field “very old and friendly” and expressed hope that Iran and Russia would witness a considerable jump in the number of passengers.

Chalik further noted that Russia’s airline companies and tour and travel agencies are ready to launch new air routes to various Iranian cities and called for setting up new flight destinations in Russia by the Iranian airlines.

On the sidelines of his visit to the Russian Federation, the head of the Civil Aviation Organization met and held talks with the Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali to discuss ways of boosting cooperation between the two countries in relevant fields.
