Palestinians Injured in Clashes with Israeli Forcs in West Bank

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Dozens of Palestinians were injured on Friday in clashes with Israeli forces in several West Bank towns and villages, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

The PRCS reported that three people, including a child, were wounded by rubber-coated metal bullets, while 40 others suffered respiratory damage after inhaling teargas fired by Israeli soldiers to disperse Palestinians.

Fierce clashes broke out between anti-settlement protesters and Israeli soldiers in the villages of Beit Dajan and Beita near the city of Nablus, as well as in the village of Kafr Qaddum, located east of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank, according to local sources.

Beita village has been the site of weekly protests against a nearby Israeli settlement, which has allegedly encroached on the land of the village since May 2021.

Beit Dajan and Beita have also witnessed clashes between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers over the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements in the two villages.

Official Palestinian figures show that over 700,000 Israeli settlers currently reside in 151 settlements scattered around the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds, territories occupied by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war. Israel has controlled or blockaded these areas ever since.

Lebanese Injured in Israeli Army Attack at Border

In another development, one Lebanese person was injured on Friday after the Israeli army fired smoke and sound bombs at demonstrators on the border in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese army intelligence sources.

The Israeli army fired four stun grenades and 11 smoke and tear gas canisters at a group of motorcyclists celebrating the International Quds Day as they approached the Houla junction near the border fence separating Lebanon and occupied Palestine in southern Lebanon.

The incident prompted alertness among the Lebanese and Israeli armies, while the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is working to reduce tension through urgent contact between the two sides. The incident came one week after the exchange of fire between Lebanon and Israel, hours after Israeli police forces raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem's Old City.

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah warned on Friday that any foolish actions committed by Israel in Jerusalem al-Quds, the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon, or Syria might drag the region into war.
