Israeli Regime Targets Syria's Quneitra with Shelling
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Israeli regime has launched new aggression against Syria, targeting an area in the east of Hader town in northern Quneitra, just across the border from the Golan Heights.
On Monday morning, the Israeli regime fired 12 shells at the region, according to local media reports. No casualties have been reported yet.
Israeli media outlets claimed that the occupation army targeted a military installation in the northern part of Quneitra belonging to Hezbollah, according to al-Mayadeen TV.
The Israeli regime frequently carries out missile attacks on targets in Syria, often using Lebanese or Palestinian airspace. In late October, the Israeli regime launched similar attacks on Damascus, Syria’s capital, during which most of the missiles were shot down by Syrian air defenses.
Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Mekdad had previously condemned Israeli airstrikes, emphasizing that his country will definitely give a crushing response to such acts of aggression at some point in the future. The Israeli regime frequently violates Syria’s sovereignty by targeting military positions inside the Arab country, especially those of the resistance movement Hezbollah, which has played a vital role in helping the Syrian army fight foreign-backed terrorists.
Israel mostly keeps quiet about its attacks on the Syrian territories, which many view as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s increasing success in confronting terrorism. The Tel Aviv regime has been a main supporter of terrorist groups that have battled the government of President Bashar al-Assad since foreign-backed militancy erupted in Syria in early 2011.
Syria has repeatedly complained to the UN over Israeli assaults, urging the Security Council to take action against Tel Aviv’s crimes. However, the calls have fallen on deaf ears.
