Iran to Become Largest Exporter of Petrochemical Complementary Industries in 10 Years

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran will become the largest exporting country in petrochemical complementary industries within the next 10 years.

This is according to Iranian Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy Ruhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi, speaking at the 14th International Conference of Petrochemical Industry in Tehran on Monday. He said that the country is taking advantage of all of its capacities to materialize the objectives of the knowledge-based economy.

The oil and petrochemical industry is one of the lifelines of attaining the knowledge-based economy, the vice president added.

Given the high capacity of the country in the petrochemical sector, Iran will be the largest exporter of downstream petrochemical products in the world in less than 10 years, Dehghani Firouzabadi stressed.

Ten petrochemical megaprojects in the petrochemical industry were defined earlier this year, he said, adding that a twofold rise in the export of petrochemicals has been targeted in the 7th- and 8th Five-Year Development Programs as well.
