Asian Weightlifting Championships: Iran’s Soltani Wins Gold
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian weightlifter Hossein Soltani won a gold medal on Tuesday in the men’s 81kg class of the 2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships underway in Jinju, South Korea.
Soltani lifted 338kg in total after lifting 154kg in the snatch and 184kg in the clean and jerk.
Chinese Taipei’s Chuang Sheng-Min won the silver with 154-180-334 and the bronze medal went to South Korean lifter Park Hyeongo with 143-181-324.
The Asian Weightlifting Championships are being held in Jinju, Republic of Korea from May 5 to 13.
The continental championship is the second qualifying event for the Paris Olympic Games after the World Weightlifting Championships 2022.
