Iran Welcomes Constructive Stances in Arab League Summit

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran welcomes the constructive stances on regional cooperation and dialogue adopted by a number of countries during a recent Arab League Summit, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson said.

In a statement on Sunday, Nasser Kanaani said Tehran welcomes the constructive stances taken by a series of regional countries on the promotion of cooperation and prioritizing dialogue and mutual understanding.

Hailing the views of a number of participants in the 32nd Arab League Summit in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah, the spokesman expressed hope that the region would witness a new approach based on friendship and promotion of cooperation among its countries.

“Collective cooperation among the regional countries for constructivism and endogenous security are fundamental components of development of a new order in the region. The Islamic Republic of Iran has always regarded it as a regional necessity,” he stated.

Kanaani, however, deeply deplored the baseless allegations made against Iran in a number of resolutions adopted during the Arab League Summit.

He noted that the Arab League was expected to avoid raising hackneyed accusation in its resolutions and to take a positive and constructive step towards strengthening regional peace, stability and convergence.

Kanaani reiterated that the three Persian Gulf islands of Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb, and the Lesser Tunb are part of Iran’s territory, stressing that Iran will take every action to exercise its sovereignty over its territories.
