Flooding in Northern Iran Claims Two Lives, Causes Extensive Damage (+Video)


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two individuals tragically lost their lives in the villages of Ostad and Chookanlu in Faruj County in Iran’s North Khorasan province following devastating flooding that occurred after heavy rainfall.

The villages of Ostad, Khosraviyeh, and Chookanlu experienced severe flooding, leading to the discovery of two bodies by the police and rescue forces.

The floodwaters have also left nine vehicles stranded in mud and water.

 

 

Governor of North Khorasan Mohammad Reza Hosseinnejad visited the flood-affected areas and emphasized the urgent need for swift and timely services in Faruj and Shirvan Counties.

Addressing provincial and local officials during his visit, Hosseinnejad urged the rapid provision of water, electricity, and gas to the affected areas, along with the reconstruction of roads to ensure uninterrupted services.

He stressed the importance of accurately reporting the number of missing persons and assessing the damages caused by the flood. 

The exact extent of the damages and the number of missing persons remains unknown.
