Taremi Tastes Success with Porto: AFC
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The-afc.com lauded Porto forward Mehdi Taremi for helping the Dragon win the 2023 Portuguese League Cup.
Taremi had another blistering season in front of goal as he scored 22 goals for FC Porto to emerge as the top scorer of Portugal’s Primeira Liga for the second time in his career. But his goalscoring exploits did not translate into league success for Porto as they finished two points behind champions Benfica, the-afc.com wrote.
Taremi still finished the season by tasting cup success as he helped Porto claim back-to-back Taca de Portugal titles by defeating SC Braga 2-0 in the final having also won the Taca de Liga back in January.
The Iranian forward also completed a hat-trick against Afghanistan on Tuesday in the 2023 CAFA Nations Cup’s opening match.
