Iran, Uzbekistan to Increase Annual Trade to $1 Billion


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian and Uzbek officials are considering to increase the value of bilateral trade exchange to $1 billion.

Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov announced the provision of a roadmap for achieving $1 billion worth of trade between Tehran and Tashkent.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of the Iran-Uzbekistan Joint economic Cooperation Commission on Saturday, he said that deepening relations with Iran is one of the priorities of the government of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan will make its utmost efforts to pave the way for expanding relations with Iran in all fields, Kudratov underlined.

Very good agreements were achieved at the Iran-Uzbekistan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission held in Uzbekistan, one of the most important of which is related to the provision of a comprehensive roadmap to achieve bilateral trade to $1 billion, he said. 

He added that a mechanism should be defined in order to raise the volume of bilateral transactions.
