Iran Wins 2023 CAFA Nations Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s football team defeated Uzbekistan 1-0 on Tuesday to win the first edition of the CAFA Nations Cup.
Sardar Azmoun scored Iran’s goal in the 48th minute at the Milliy Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Iran defender Hossein Kanani was shown his second yellow card in the 90th minute.
Team Melli, headed by Amir Ghalenoei, had defeated Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan in the preliminary round.
Oman won the bronze medal after beating Kyrgyzstan 1-0.
The 2023 CAFA Nations Cup was organized by Central Asian Football Association (CAFA).
The event was held in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan from June 10 to 20.
