Iraq Pays Off All Gas Debts to Iran: NIGC CEO


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The chief executive of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said that the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has paid off all its debt regarding gas import from Iran.

Speaking in the first conference of strengthening installation and equipment for producing, transmitting and distribution network of natural gas in the country on Sunday, Majid Chegini emphasized that the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has fully paid all its debt.

He added that transferring the money from the TBI Bank in Iraq is now a pressing problem.

Turning to the extension of the gas contract with neighboring Turkey, he said that talks with the Turkish side are underway and that the gas swap deal with Turkey will last until 2026.

Turkey has called on Iranian officials to extend the gas imports contract, he added.
