Iran Urges Closer Trade Ties with Asians, Africans


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed the need to broaden economic and trade cooperation with a number of Asian and African states whose new ambassadors have taken office in Tehran.

The new ambassadors of the Philippines, Bangladesh, India and Libya held separate meetings with Raisi on Sunday to submit their credentials.

In the meetings, the Iranian president highlighted the capacities for the expansion of bilateral relations, stressing the need for serious efforts to promote cooperation with the four countries in various fields, particularly economy and trade.

After taking office in August 2021, Raisi adopted a new foreign policy oriented towards neighbors, Muslim states, Asian countries and the members of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The Iranian president will embark on a tour of Kenya, Zimbabwe and Uganda on Tuesday.
