Iran’s President in Harare on Last Leg of Africa Tour

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived at the Robert Mugabe International Airport in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, on Thursday.

Raisi was officially received by his Zimbabwean counterpart Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa at the airport.

The two presidents and high-ranking delegations from the two sides are scheduled to hold talks on the expansion of bilateral relations later in the day.

Zimbabwe is the third country the Iranian president is visiting on the last leg of his three-nation tour of Africa.

It had earlier taken him to Kenya and Uganda, where Iran and the two East African countries signed documents on bilateral cooperation in various fields.

In comments in January 2022, Raisi denounced the objectives and interests that the West pursues in Africa, expressing Iran’s support for African nations’ independence, development and welfare.

Describing plans to establish and strengthen relations with the African states as a priority in Iran’s foreign policy, he said Iran seeks to enhance relations with African countries in all fields.
