Heads of Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission Hold Talks in Astara


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The heads of the Iran and Republic of Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission met in Astara on July 17 to discuss bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest.

Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash and First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev held talks as the heads of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission in the border city of Astara on Monday.

During the meeting, the two sides negotiated over promoting cooperation, border facilities, joint rail and road projects and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) as part of developing mutual relations. 

The meeting was held after the Iranian delegation welcomed the Azeri delegation on the Astrachai Bridge. 

Also present at the meeting were the governors of Iran’s Gilan and Ardabil provinces, which border the Republic of Azerbaijan.
