Ali Daei among 12 Nominees for All-time AFC Asian Cup Dream Forwards


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – With less than six months to go until the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has invited fans to vote for their all-time AFC Asian Cup Dream XI in its latest campaign.

Fans can now view a shortlist of 42 contenders and select their all-time dream squad. The public vote will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the Final Dream XI of the AFC Asian Cup.

A legend of the game, Ali Daei brought his goalscoring prowess to the AFC Asian Cup and took Iran to third-placed finishes in 1996 and 2004.

His four-goal haul against Korea Republic in 1996, on his way to winning the Golden Boot, remains one of the most memorable performances in the competition’s history.

The striker netted 14 goals across three editions and is the AFC Asian Cup all-time top scorer.
