Iran Goes from Winless to Unbeaten at FIBA Women's Asia Cup


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s national basketball team defeated Mongolia 70-33 in the 2023 FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2023 Division B on Monday.

Team Melli Banovan is scheduled to play Indonesia on Tuesday.

Four players scored in double-digits for the victors led by Delaram Vakili who knocked down 4 three-pointers to end up with 13 points. Edna Eissaianjangi, Negin Rasoulipour, and Faezeh Shahriari all put in 11 points each in the resounding win.

Mongolia’s Nyamjav Nandinkhusel scored nine points in this match.

Iran was unable to claim a victory in 2021, its first appearance in a Women's Asia Cup since 1974. In its second straight Division B campaign in Bangkok, the Iranian team claimed its first win in the competition in nearly 50 years by beating Malaysia 65-59.
