Iran Reaffirms Support for Stability in Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian renewed support for Syria’s stability, tranquility and territorial integrity ahead of a visit to the Arab country.

In a post on his X account on Wednesday, Amirabdollahian said he is going to visit Damascus in order to promote Iran’s policy of interaction with the neighboring region and speed up the implementation of agreements concluded by the Iranian and Syrian presidents.

“Iran stresses the necessity of establishing stability and calm and maintaining Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he underlined.

The Iranian foreign minister noted that his talks with senior Syrian officials will revolve around the latest regional and international developments.

During Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s official visit to Damascus in May, Iran and Syria signed a comprehensive agreement on long-term and strategic cooperation.

In a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had called on Tehran to assist Damascus in ensuring security and reconstructing the war-ravaged areas.

Assad also stated that the relations between Iran and Syria have remained stable even during tough circumstances and despite the “severe political and security storms” that have hit the Middle East.
