Persepolis, Al Nassr Target Title: ACL 2023-24

Tehran (Tasnim) – It promises to be a blockbuster when Iran's Persepolis play Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia in Group E of the AFC Champions League 2023-24 on Tuesday since both teams will be targeting the title.

Persepolis have finished runner-up in 2018 and 2020 while Al Nassr suffered semi-final heartache in the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Persepolis will head into the tie at the iconic Azadi Stadium in good form, having won three and drawn one of its opening four 2023-24 Iran Pro League matches.

The Tehran side emerged domestic champion for the 15th time last season and will be up for the challenge that Al Nassr will pose.

Al Nassr has made no secret of its ambitions, with Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo leading the charge.

It has recovered well since opening its season with two defeats in the Saudi Pro League 2023-24, overcoming a tough Shabab Al Ahli Dubai to book its spot in the group stage and a win against Persepolis in Tehran could well spark a run for the AFC Champions League title.
