Kazakhstan Hails Iran as A Strategic Partner

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The president of Kazakhstan praised Iran as a “strategic partner” and a close friend of his country, calling for stronger cooperation between the two Asian states.

In a meeting with his Iranian counterpart in New York on Monday, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the capacities of the two countries for cooperation.

He described Iran a strategic partner and a close friend for Kazakhstan, and welcomed an increase in the exchange of goods between the two countries.

Tokayev also referred to Iran's suitable transit capacities and announced his country's interest in accelerating the implementation of the agreements between the two countries.

For his part, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi referred to the good agreements between the two nations, and highlighted the efforts to accelerate the full implementation of bilateral agreements, especially in the economic and business field.

He noted that the neighborhood of Iran and Kazakhstan through the Caspian Sea and their membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization provide a suitable platform for the development of relations.

"Increasing the exchange of goods, both by sea and by rail, is in the interest of the two nations and the countries of the region, and steps should be taken to accelerate the realization of this goal,” Raisi added.

The Iranian president has traveled to New York to take part in the 78th annual meeting of the UN General Assembly.
